Organic Whole Foods

When it comes to what 'food' I choose to put into my body, my philosophy is changing as my education on whole plant based foods is evolving.  There is a definite movement across the country towards healthier eating aka Gluten-Free, Organic, Non-GMO, etc. People are catching on to the marketing tactics of the food industry giants and as a result, realizing that 'healthy' isn't what they are selling.

I choose to not label my diet as I have learned through experience that identifying myself by what I eat isn't.....well, it isn't how I want to identify myself to put it simply.  And I have learned that our bodies and what we choose to eat is deeply personal and intimate.  The ultimate educator on what we should be eating is........our bodies themselves. Our bodies speak to us each time we consume a bite of food.

There are two educators via nutrition whose philosophies really resonate with me (and my site).  The first is Tara Stiles, author of 'Make Your Own Rules' diet.  I think adopting a diet as a lifestyle is deeply personal.  And it's each of our responsibility to figure out not only what foods are best for us but what is the scope of our overall health: food sensitivities, digestion, gut health, etc.   And Tara's book is all about choosing foods that are best for YOU along w/ an education on plant based nutrition.

The second educator whose philosophy I so agree with is
Dawn Jackson Blatner.  Dawn Jackson Blatner is a registered dietitian nutritionist and certified specialist in sports dietetics. Dawn is the nutrition consultant for the Chicago Cubs, a food and nutrition blogger with Huffington Post and a nutrition expert on the advisory board of Fitness Magazine. She is the author of The Flexitarian Diet, recently ranked a top plant-based diet by US News & World Report.  Dawn has a similar philosophy to Tara Stiles...in my humble pie opinion.  Feel free to explore Dawn's site & read about her food philosophy here.

I do believe from being exposed to the best folks in wellness including physicians, nutritionists, naturopaths, etc. that we can all agree that organic plant based foods should dominate your plates.  We all know this as the research is absolutely proven and widespread.

Follow along as we share my favorite plant based recipes & desserts.  I will also be sharing what foods energize and invigorate my mind, body & spirit!
