I was chatting w/ a friend today who was sharing that she is drawn to eating more sweet foods in the summer (and more processed foods). We dove into a really great discussion about how toxic processed sugar is for our bodies. And how - when we consume toxic sugar on a regular basis (mind you there are always exceptions for the occasional Sprinkles cupcake), our bodies just break down. And we experience symptoms that might even be attributed to other ailments. Giving up processed sugar is one of the best gifts you can give your body.
We all know this but how do we combat those mad sugar cravings when they come like a freight train? If you have never had 'Chia Seed Pudding', you are missing out. You don't have to anymore though! Give this simple recipe a try and make it your own by adding in your own favorite nuts or fruits! This pudding not only curbs your sugar cravings but it's filling & incredibly healthy (even energizing believe it or not)! When I make recipes, I never measure anything which is why I don't share my own 'concoctions' on the site very often. I will do my best below but I am laughing at myself already in how some of my recommendations must sound: Small Bowl or Glass Jar Fill half way with Unsweetened Almond Milk (I love using Vanilla Unsweetened Almond Milk by Engine 2 as it has NO sugar-hooray)! A few spoonfuls of chia seeds......stir. Toss in organic blueberries (my fav) or the 'berry' of your choice. Raspberries or blackberries are delish! Sprinkle in a tiny bit of organic stevia Wala! Stir it all and place in the fridge for several hours. The result? Tasty rich & gooey chia seed pudding! If you want to really make a filling dessert....in other words, if you want to 'up' the amazing taste factor, try adding in some of the following: Cinnamon (the best taste eva) A dollop of almond butter (serious yum) Ground raw almonds or walnuts for crunch & protein Flax seeds Goji berries And folks, those sugar cravings with be SATISFIED!
