Bits & Bites....

Friday's 'Bits & Bites' is coming a day early because I will be on vacation. There will be no additional SW posts until after June 14th.

I hope you have been enjoying all of insight on health & wellness! I also hope you checked out the brand new tab 'Give' on the site.  My vision is to have Snapshots of Wellness evolve into a health minded digital space where we are joining in community together to give back to the health & wellness of those that need our resources - our voices - our time!

The 'bits & bites' I wanted to share today are about how to have health minded fun with friends & family.  With summer comes 'happy hours', 'cocktails on patios', 'parties', 'cookout's' and while all these outings are filled w/ great people/times, they present w/ potential excess of alcohol, processed foods, etc.  And I just wanted to share some quick ideas for how to socialize and be in community while continuing to up your wellness game!

I know for me, the healthier I get mentally, physically, emotionally & spiritually, sitting around drinking alcohol, eating processed foods, etc. leads to me feeling sluggish and well, it's no longer my way.  So, it's also important to spend your time with like minded individuals who also are looking to thrive via their health. 

Without further adieu, here are my ideas for healthy fun w/ community:

Gathering friends to get out in nature gives you all an opportunity to socialize while fueling your energy.   Throw on backpacks and hike together!  Head down to a nearby river or lake and get the kayaks out for an afternoon!  And if you don't have access to rental kayaks, get on your bikes and ride trails or along the lakefront (or wherever you have a bike path).  How about gathering a group to cook together and set the menu as 'whole foods only' (keep it fun and engaging)! Simply relaxing & sipping tea on a rooftop deck together is always a fab way to relax with company.  Traveling, swimming, partaking in a group exercise class such as yoga or pilates, sailing or playing a group sport such as softball together......all of these activities can be so invigorating! And it's amazing to gather and volunteer together.

The healthier you become, the more you will naturally turn away from activities, people, food, conversations, etc. that no longer serve you (or God for that matter).  Your life will begin to change in ways that you most likely won't even anticipate....and all for the better!
